J-20 China's Answer to the F-22
In the 1990s, the Peoples Liberation Army Air Force was looking for a new fifth gen fighter. During the early 2000s a competition was run, known in the West as the F-XX program. The winner of this program was Chengdu, who’s design - the J-20 Mighty Dragon - is now widely recognised as China’s preeminent air superiority fighter. Today, we take a closer look at the design.

Tony Kretschmann Interview | 9SQN Rescue in Vietnam
The Su-75 is likely not even being developed. Of all the planes, it is the most likely to be a paper tiger.
The Meteor is one of the best missiles ever made. America is only now just catching up. South Korea is a great security partner. 🇦🇺 too., but I don’t like how theyre willing to throw their citizens under the bus at the behest of of the US DoD. Cheers from 🇺🇸.
SU 35 S / SM = Super killer.. beautiful killer.. ☝️👍👏👏👏
Chin propaganda , they do not have the high American aviation technology .....
J20 is much better....
Interesting. How the F-35's base model design is now the " Template " for other newer variations. Eventually planes with the F-35's overall design will be the most numerous in service worldwide and for a long service life.
It is pointless to say anything without both planes coming face to face and fighting. The Americans' comments are only insulting. Not because they know anything.
Now there's yet another version, the FC-31B, with 2x side weapons bays to carry 4x missiles.
Wow, Australia was saved by aircraft carriers at the Battle of Coral sea; for her to have none sounds extremely dangerous.
its my all time favorite jet but the only thing it really lacks is an AESA radar
我去,这个是真的帅,好喜欢
O Sukoy57 is the king and best.
Short version. The YF-23 might have been better. It had a more abitious design that was never entirely finished. They hadn't figured out the weapons bay and it was projected to use advanced engines that were still in the design process. If it all workout as they hoped, the YF-23 could have been better. There was a risk of it spiraling into development hell. See, Zumwalt destroyer. The F-22 showed up to the final flyoff as a near finished design. It was so complete that it was able to live fire some air to air missiles when the YF-23 could even carry a weapon. Given the F-22 being practically ready to put in the field and the fact that in it's history, it was so superior that no one has been willing to challenge it, it's hard to say the wrong call was made.
J-20 Is not a True 5th Generation Maybe 🤔 4.75 Gen. / When it gets exposed like Su-35 in Ukraine war it prove that. Copying Stealth & aircraft Technology is not the Same as Master it.
Problem with the Flankers was / Stealth,Aesa Radars , Sensors & Electronic Countermeasures became more valuable than Extreme Performance . ** F/ / A -18 Superhornet With Aesa Radar/ Electronic Countermeasures & Advance longer range AMRam-120D pose formidable threat to any Flanker
中国PL-15/17空射导弹被人严重低估了,这是致命的错误。
Half of F35 are grounded for technical glitches. US military even refused to accept upgraded or modification F35 for safety reasons.
The YF-23 was sexy as hell. Even by todays standards
Neat historical research into British aviation procurement.
THE most sexy jet in operation, out there, with no rival. Armed with R37M, the world's best BVR missile (400+km range) is a deadly opponent, able to hunt & kill F15s easily, at a range at least 2x bigger than F15, both in detection range and weapons range.
Yu Ping Liu was the chief scientist of the YF 23 program. He was also a stealth engineer of the B2 program.
Interesting. And nice music at the end!
So Lockheed can Help Turkey, India, and South Korea but can't restart F-22, the American MIC is soooo full of poop!
Relying on US and EU armament makes the program look inconsistent on a strategic level. In case of a conflict in the region, South Korea may find itself under naval blockade and neither projectiles nor spares would reach it's air force.
Go China🇨🇳
Arguably, China is flying the best Flanker in the form of J-16 not the Russians.
To all the experts in the comment and to the guy who made this video: *You missed 1 CRUCIAL fact, the YF-23 MIGHT have been comparable to the YF-22, but is no where NEAR the tech of an F-22.* Those are 2 different aircrafts, in fact, the F-22 is a combination of BOTH YF-22 and YF-23 which is based on the frame of the YF-22. *F-22 even used the EXACT same Engines of the YF-23.* So yea, you do expect as much power back then, obviously today they have an improved version. You can clearly see that the F-22 is fined and smoothed out as much as the YF-23, opposite to the YF-22 which was not. There is no argue about it even.
dont worry folks, its a copycat, it cant even dive. US no.1
My Dad said the Hellcat could operate off of an Escort Carrier, which the Corsair could not do. Since we had so many Escort Carriers in 1945, that was a big deal. He said if you really knew what you were doing, the Corsair could turn (using torque) better than the Hellcat in certain circumstances. The only reason the Corsair was produced after the war was because it had become known for it's role as a ground attack and close support fighter used mainly by the Marines, and the Hellcat was replaced by the Grumman F8F Bearcat which was superior to either of the older planes.
666 comments - so here we go... Tasteful documentary. It is understandable that for once procurement followed existing technologies that were proven to be operational - in contrast to the later national catastrophes of the destroyer and modular 'Littoral Combat Ships' programs - though the B-2 engine configuration of the YF-23 sounds remarkable, possibly remains useful for UCAV development. In that regard, it is noteworthy that super-maneuverability was given priority over observability - while rather deriding it as useless when the Russians had presented the Flanker at air shows... Possibly something more could have been said about the companies, involved in the competition - whether past records were a factor toward 'confidence in serial production' and whether such concerns - or claims - were plausible.
At least information source is realiable as its from Janes.
Holy crap...look at the moves that the plane can make....
Comprehensive, circumspect introduction and look into the state of affairs of Russian aviation. Though not an aviation enthusiast I always remember *Carlo Kopp's* 2003 article in *'Australian Aviation'* Magazine about the export of Flankers to Asia and how it stood in performance in contrast to the lockstep of Transatlantic reviews of the platform as nothing but super-maneuverable: 'outright incapable of fighting beyond visual range'...
1:59 The JF-17 was not "leaps and bounds" ahead of the J10. The JF-17 was primarily made to be cheap and for the export market, primarily as a joint venture with Pakistan. It's why the PLAAF doesn't use the JF-17 themselves. Pakistan has also purchased the export variant of the J10C which it also largely regards as an upgrade to the JF-17. The JF-17 is designed to be fast , light and most importantly CHEAP to both manufacture and to maintain so that it can be attractive to developing countries. But it lacks the range and payload capacity of the J10 which is why the JF-17 was never adopted by the PLAAF.
Beautiful aircraft. Absolutely stunning.
我有内幕,J20是木头和豆腐做的,西方国家不要担心😊😊
It seems that another type of J20 is being prepared as an accompanying aerial drone, because the Chinese military media has published sea drones on its warships, where the sea drones were tested to form various formations on Chinese warships...
It looks like a copy of the Mig 144, even the specifications are similar.
Hope there will be a documentary on the TEDBF which will equip and evolve for the 5 to 6 aircraft carriers India plans to produce.
What a well put together documentary.
J20>J35>F22>F35
all the image and videos were fake. no use at all, keep laughing
"With afterburners engaged, YF-23 could achieve SLIGHTLY higher top speed of mach 2.6, as compared to F-22's mach 2.2" lol.. "slightly my ass XD"
The only reason F-22 exists over f-23 is because lockheed martin lied about their budgets and paid off the government. Or else who in their right mind would pass up on YF23!? That air frame is so close to 6th Gen too!
Is it a real stealth aircraft or fake?
no one has data on any stealth planes to prove it.... otherwise that someone will be in prison
it's a swedish design, flygsystem 2020, the chinese stle our designs
china steals it so you dont hv it. get it!
This is nothing to do with the F-22. It only has to be better than the Taiwan F-16s. If and when China decides to re-unify Taiwan, as with Ukraine and Russia, it is unlikely that the US will intervene directly other than put several battalions of Marines on the island to assist with the ground war. This means that the primary opponent to the J-20 will be the F-16. The Chinese are not really interested in attacking the US and don't really care if the J-20 is not at parity to the F-22 or F-35. The J-20 will likely never face US planes in wide scale combat. The financial damage that such a war would have to the US would be insurmountable. Taiwan it not worth direct US involvement, other putting a 3 or 4 MEUs ashore. Clearly the Marines have been redesigning for this purpose for the last 5 years.
Indian brass hats have a track 13:01 record of sci fi day dreaming. Probably because they lack knowledge of aero engineering, project management and cost accounting to see the constraints.
Always had a thing about the Sunderland, just something about it, even if nothing to do with the football team of the same name :)
Made in China. Nuff said.
